thank you to our customers

Merry Christmas and Thank You to Our Customers

During this holiday season, people get overwhelmed with preparing or celebrating with friends and family. It’s easy to forget to take the time to reflect on the passing of the year or its blessings. For the past two years, Americans and people worldwide have had to take on a multitude of challenges because of the pandemic. It’s been hard at times for every one of us as the coronavirus response upended everything. People are still dealing with illness and stress from COVID-19. Yet, with perseverance, we have made it through to this point. So we think it’s worth it to look back and say, “Thank you” to you, our customers.

While 2020 was a whirlwind ride, 2021 will also be one for the history books. As businesses opened again after lockdowns were lifted, they had to deal with shortages of labor and supplies. The American supply chain has been strained since February of 2020, but some goods and materials are much harder to find. This impacts the ability of businesses to keep up the same level of customer service.

Bond Products has been affected by supply chain issues as well, but our customers have continued to be supportive, and we appreciate the feedback that we receive from them, like this review left online from Zack:

I’m not normally one to leave reviews, but these guys earned it. I was hesitant to place an order for what I needed because I wasn’t sure if it was the right product. I finally called the number on their website, expecting the typical 800-number customer service. To my surprise, a real person picked up the phone on the second ring, understood my questions, and transferred me to someone who was familiar with the exact products I was buying. They were able to answer my questions and concerns very quickly! I then placed my order and figured I would have everything within a few days. WRONG AGAIN. My order was picked and packed immediately, shipped that afternoon, and arrived at my door the next day. I’d give these guys 10 stars if I could. Very much looking forward to giving them more of my business!”

As a smaller, family owned and operated business, we at Bond try our best to provide an ever expanding catalog of great products to our customers along with exemplary customer service. It’s very nice to hear when we have succeeded, and we appreciate every review our customers leave. Many of our customers own their own businesses, so they know what the challenges of maintaining “business as usual” are. We hope that the products we supply have helped you to have the flexibility necessary to survive and thrive in the current economy.

We at Bond Products would like to say thank you to you for your loyalty and your patience. We can’t know yet what is in 2022, but we will all meet it together. We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

color cards

Bond’s Selection of Color Cards – Take the Guesswork out!

Matching a carpet binding or serging tape to a carpet can be a challenge if you are just guessing which color might be the best match. It’s too easy to make an expensive mistake. That’s why Bond offers a variety of color cards, charts, and decks – so you can see exactly what color binding you have and if it’s compatible with your rug

Since we sell our tapes and fringes in rolls, taking a risk on a color you think will match might be an expensive mistake. For this reason, we offer color cards for Instabind, serging yarn, carpet fringe, and more. You can order one card or every sample card or chart we make.

Different Types of Color Cards

Each of our color cards is designed to make the color selection of our products as seamless as possible. We offer:

Bond’s 100% Cotton Oriental Replacement Fringe Board – This sample card is recommended for replacing fringes on Karastan carpets and other types of area rugs.

Bond’s 780 Veltron “Mega” Poly Color Card – This card includes 279 colors of both 7/8 and 1-1/4 inch widths. Compared to the 425 poly, Bond 780 is stiffer and has a mesh-like look that enables easier color matching to carpet. It’s priced and sold per gross yard (144 yds) and packaged 2 x 72 yd rolls per package. It also has a nice color locator on the back of the chart for quick, easy access to our specific color numbers, making ordering so simple.

Bond’s Faux Leather Binding and Rug Backing Chart – Our faux leather binding is a synthetic leather with PVC on the face with a cotton backing. This chart contains all of our 14 color samples. It comes with rug backing samples as well. Twice the value!

Bond’s 425 Polyester Color Card – This card contains 110 colors of both 13/16 & 1-1/4 inch widths. Bond 425 is made with texturized polyester yarn. Our customers often confuse it with cotton binding due to its high quality, low luster, and thickness. It’s priced and sold per gross yards (144 yds) and packaged 2 x 72 yd rolls per package.

Bond’s Cotton and Serge Tape Color Sample Deck – While not a card, this useful sample deck contains 8″ swatches of our 1-1/4″ cotton binding tapes. All of the colors are available in:

  • 1-1/4″ cotton binding
  • 3/4″ cotton binding
  • 1-1/4″ cotton serge tape

We also offer a number of other smaller charts and cards, including:

If you work with Instabind or Bond’s cotton or polyester bindings, yarns, or fringes regularly, these cards will save you time and money because they make choosing the right color binding or yarn a snap. Call us at 1-888-800-BOND to order the charts, cards, or decks you need. Our customer service representatives will be happy to help you select the right ones.

pneumatic air carver

Bond’s New Pneumatic Air Carver

If you are looking for a high quality pneumatic air carver, Bond has got you covered. Our air carver makes the art of rug carving much simpler. You can create crisp, clean lines in carpet with this sculpting tool.

Want to Expand Your Carpet Capabilities?

If your business works with carpet and area rugs, rug carving can add another profitable stream of income. There are many different types of rug beauty. Antique rugs have beautifully woven fibers. Carpeting can be a less visually arresting type of floor covering, but carving a carpet will add dimension and interest to any piece.

If you’re not familiar with rug carving, it’s pretty straightforward. It’s adding texture to a piece of carpet by shaping the fibers with a carving tool. The carver shears away areas of the pile to create a visually interesting texture around its design elements. Every carved rug is a custom piece because this technique is done by hand by the carpet professional.

Bond Products’ Pneumatic Air Carver

Our pneumatic air carver will allow you to make very professional looking carved rugs. It’s used by craftsmen interested in carving with artistic precision and confidence. While it will allow for fine rug sculpting, it’s designed to be used regularly and will stand up to production-line use. It’s durable, lightweight, and simple to maintain.

This rug carver comes with:

  • A standard blade plus one extra blade
  • Air filter
  • Air gauge regulator
  • Air hose
  • Carrying case

For best performance, clean and oil your rug carver regularly. You will need to grease the ball bearings and blades and adjust the air pressure with a maximum of 6 bars. Low pressure will reduce the speed of your carver, but higher pressure will destroy its motor. Take good care of it as you use it, and it will work well and last over time.

Rug trends come and go, with yesterday’s design fads being replaced all the time, but there’s something about hand craftsmanship that’s very pleasing, both for the craftsman and for the rug owner. Bond’s pneumatic air carver will allow you to create carpets with an impressive professional finish. If you’ve been looking for another skill to cultivate, why not try it? You can’t beat the price.

If you have questions, as always you are welcome to call our customer service representatives at 1-888-800-BOND. They will be happy to help you find what you need for your project.

flooring fasteners

Bond Has the Flooring Fasteners You Need

If your business needs flooring fasteners, Bond Products has a large selection of quality hardwood flooring installation tools and fasteners, as well as other tools designed to make the job easier. We’re here to get you what you need to finish your project successfully.

A Wide Variety of Flooring Fasteners

Fasteners are what make flooring possible. They may be small, but they keep your flooring project together. Different types of fasteners have different selling points.

Flooring StaplesStaples are a less expensive fastener option, but their dual-prong action gives them extra grip. They do less damage to carpet than nails and, with the right tools, are easy to lay and easy to remove if you make a mistake. You can load them quickly into a stapler. They’re also useful for installing lighter weight flooring products such as sheet vinyl flooring.

Bond offers a full variety of staples that make the work quick and easy – narrow crown wood staples, divergent PAD staples, divergent electric staples, and underlayment staples.

Flooring L-cleatsCleat nails are a good option because they allow hardwood to expand and contract with changes in the seasons and weather. The “L” on the cleat works to securely fasten the floor to the subfloor while the smoother part of the cleat allows the floor to fluctuate with changes in the temperature and humidity without damage. Cleats are a good option if you need to fasten more delicate types of flooring

Our flooring cleats are collated to fit 16 GA and 18 GA nailing tools and are available in 1-1/2”, 1-3/4”, and 2”.

Flooring Finish Nails – When choosing finish nails there are a number of options. We offer galvanized angle finish nails, galvanized straight finish nails, and galvanized brad finish nails.

For all of the above, you’ll want to choose the product that is compatible with your flooring tool. If you have a question or you’re looking for volume, give us a call at 1-888-800-BOND for pricing that fits your flooring needs. Our personalized customer service cannot be beat.

Flooring Tools

We also specialize in the distribution of quality mallets and staplers that are popular in the industry. Sold at competitive prices and tested with professionals in mind, our flooring tools will not disappoint. They include:

If you’re a professional carpet installer or a weekend DIYer, you’ll find the flooring fasteners you need for your installation work here at Bond.

rug pad

Why Your Area Rug Needs a Rug Pad

When you’re considering purchasing a new area rug and thinking about the perfect spot for it in your home, don’t forget the rug pad. There are many reasons why your area rug needs a rug pad, and they range from safety to comfort. Let’s go through your rug pad options so you can choose the best one for your rug.

Why You Need a Rug Pad

Because a good area rug can be costly, many people would prefer not to think about spending more money on something that won’t be seen if they don’t have to. But buying a good rug pad is an investment in the rug itself. It protects both the rug and the floor. It will keep any rough edges of the flooring and dirt or particles from damaging the fibers of the rug. It will protect the floor too from damage that can come from the friction created when the rug moves around

A rug pad helps to keep a rug laying flat on the floor which makes it more attractive and safer. From a comfort perspective, the extra layer adds a softness that makes it more pleasant to walk or sit upon.

Different Types of Rug Pads

Just as there are different kinds of area rugs, there are a variety of types of rug backing and pads. Some pads combine felt that provides cushion with rubber for grip. Other types have additional padding in addition to either rubber or felt. You don’t want your rug to be high enough off the floor to trip on, so be careful to measure how much cushion your pad needs before you buy.

Bond Products offers these pad options to our customers:

MOVENOT Secondary Felt, Double Grip Rubber Backing – This bestselling product has felt on the top side and rubber on the underside to stop a rug from sliding. It’s suitable to use on heated floors up to 80° F and can be attached to a rug by latex or spray gluing.

SUPERMOVENOT Deluxe Rug Underlayment – This pad has the same advantages as the above MOVENOT, but it’s ⅜” thick for extra padding and comfort.

Grey Felt Secondary Carpet Backing – This affordable option is made from standard quality poly fibers and is available in three sizes. It protects rug backings from floor surfaces.

Eco-Grip Rug Pad Non-slip w/ cushion – If you need an eco-friendly rug gripper, this is an excellent choice. It’s made from 100% plant-based oils and will help protect your floors and your family from tripping and slipping.

Eco-Stay Rug Pad Non-slip – This is a thinner and more affordable green flooring non-slip rug backing for customers looking for a bit of cushioning and a non-slip backing.

Before you choose, take into account both the needs of the rug and where it will be located in your home. If the area is heavily trafficked, more gripping action will be helpful. If you intend to sit or play on the rug, a comfortable cushion will make that more enjoyable. If you are planning to layer your rugs, a thinner pad will work better so the total height of the rugs is not a tripping hazard.

As always, if you have any questions about rug pad or any of the above products, our customer service team is available to help. Call Bond Products at 1-888-800-BOND to talk about your rug and carpet needs anytime. We want to match you with the products that will make your life and your floors better.

different types of area rugs

What Are the Different Kinds of Area Rugs Made of?

Every hard floor needs a nice area rug.” That’s our motto at Bond Products. Not every area rug is the same, though, and that’s a good thing! There are so many different kinds of area rugs that it can be a challenge to decide which kind is best. The answer to that is: The type of rug you need is the one that does what you need it to do. In this blog we will go through some of your rug possibilities.

When you go to choose an area rug, you should ask yourself a few questions, such as:

  • Where will the rug go? What is the decor like?
  • What is the environment like in terms of temperature and humidity?
  • How much traffic will the rug get?
  • Are there any allergies to consider?
  • How much cushion do you need the rug to have?

The answer to these questions matter. No one uses an antique rug to decorate their patio, unless it’s for a photo shoot. Don’t select a light colored rug for a heavily trafficked area unless you have a crush on your local carpet cleaner and you need an excuse to see him quite a lot. It will get dirty. There’s a lot to consider. What the rug is made of will also affect its functionality and appearance.

What Are Area Rugs Made of?

Rugs are made of two types of materials: natural and synthetic. Natural rugs are made from natural fibers such as wool, cotton, jute, and sisal. Synthetic fibers are man made by chemists in a lab, often to create a fiber for a specific purpose. Some types of synthetic rug materials are nylon, rayon, polypropylene, and polyester. Both synthetic and natural fibers have advantages and disadvantages.

Synthetic fibers are often more stain resistant, mold resistant, and easier to clean. Nylon rugs maintain their color well over time even with exposure to sunlight and the elements. If you’re planning to add an area rug to a place in your home that might get wet, you’ll want one made of a synthetic material.

In contrast, natural fibers blend in nicely with other natural elements like wood and stone. They feel cozy and look elegant. Wool, being thick and dense, is very good at both muffling sound and insulating. This is why in many parts of the world, they hang wool rugs on their walls as a decoration

When you’ve narrowed down what you need your rug to do, you can focus on how it looks and how it will complement the room you want to put it in. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of beautiful rugs on the market for nearly every purpose, so you have a lot of choice. You can also make an area rug from a remnant using Instabind if you want to save a little money and recycle a nice piece of carpet.

If you need supplies for rug making, Bond has them, and we are here to help answer your questions. Call us at 1-888-800-BOND to talk to one of our helpful customer service representatives.

long nozzle tip glue gun

How To Install a Long Nozzle Tip on your Glue Gun

Bond Products offers a number of glue gun options to our customers so you can purchase exactly the kind of glue gun you need, whether that’s a work task or a weekend craft. We also carry the different types and sizes of glue sticks that these guns require. For some applications, however, using a certain type of glue gun tip makes a real difference in the job. For this we have the long nozzle tip. In this blog we will explain to you how to install this tip on your glue gun.

The Right Tip for Your Glue Gun

The tip that comes with your glue gun is a high quality tip, but if you are using your gun to apply Instabind to a carpet remnant, a long nozzle tip will make this job much simpler and faster. Our orange long nozzle tip will fit most standard glue guns and fits Bond’s 305 and 806 glue guns perfectly.

Installing Your Long Nozzle Tip

The process of replacing the standard glue gun tip is not too difficult, so don’t worry. To begin with, you want to make sure your glue gun is hot, so plug it in before you start the installation process. This is to make sure that any residual glue in the nozzle is hot and nothing will break when you remove the tip.

Once the gun is warmed up, remove the black rubber protector on the tip of the glue gun. Turn it, and it will pop off. Then you will use a wrench to unscrew the standard tip that the gun comes with. Turn it in a counterclockwise direction, being careful not to touch the hot tip or burn yourself.

When the standard tip is removed, then you can take your long-nozzle tip and screw it on in a clockwise direction, pushing the rubber down to secure it tightly. Now you are ready to use your glue gun to attach Instabind or for any other task. The long-tip nozzle makes it easier to control the glue as it comes out of the gun, making your project simpler and less messy to accomplish.

Here is a video that demonstrates this process.

We are always happy to help our customers select the right products for their needs or troubleshoot any issues they have with the products they’ve purchased. For more information, call us at 1-888-800-BOND.

We get a lot of notice for our carpet binders, but we have a wide variety of machinery that is designed to make rug binding and repair and carpet installation simple – for example, our PCC-6 portable 6-blade carpet cove base cutter. The cove base cutter is fully adjustable to any width of carpet by turning a few screws.

The Replacement Parts You Need

portable serger

Bond’s Portable Serger: The Alpha-Mini 2000

If carpet serging is something you’ve been looking into as a way of adding to your business, you might not know what to look for in a serger. Bond Products offers several different options in sergers, including our flexible and adaptable portable serger, the Alpha-Mini.

Carpet Serging Adds Value

Carpet serging is a technique of wrapping the edges of carpet with thread. A serged edge prevents the carpet or rug from unraveling and gives it a beautiful, finished look. While a carpet can be serged by hand and many antique carpets are finished this way, most serging today is done using a carpet serger because serging by hand is extremely time consuming. Serging looks like a traditional whip stitch, but the yarn stitches are even closer together.

What You Need in a Portable Serger

Bond’s Alpha-Mini 2000 utilizes the latest technology and works well on all types of carpet, area rugs, and mats. It can handle serging through both thick and thin carpet and maneuvers swiftly on its ball-bearing wheels. Its speed is controlled electronically.

This serger will wrap evenly around the edges of carpets or rugs, both on top and bottom. It can serge outside and inside corners, curves, or scallops. The serging itself wraps perpendicular to the rug, rather than at an angle.

Using a portable serger will increase your business’s productivity. They are lightweight and easy to carry (with a standup handle available), so you can take them wherever your jobs are or use them in the shop. While portable, they’re not flimsy. They are designed for heavy duty use and will hold up over time.

We also offer the Alpha-Mini *S* Narrow Edge 2000HD for more narrow edged serging. This portable serger must be used with ⅝” Veltron binding tape (SKU#07780-N553 & 07780-N920).

Both portable binders come with 207 tex 210 nylon thread and a cone of yarn so you can begin serging right away. We include spare needles, a tool kit, and an operation manual as well. We offer a 90-day warranty against manufacturer defects for both products.

Portable sergers use a continuous wrap of yarn that is about 3/8ths of an inch wide. The yarn is selected to either match or complement the colors in the rug. Bond has a wide selection of yarns to choose from.

For our tips on how to remove serged yarn, click here

Bond’s Alpha-Mini 2000 has the best value of any portable serger on the market. If you are looking for a high quality serger to extend your business’s capabilities or to replace the serger you already have, you could not make a better choice. Call us today to order your Alpha-Mini 2000 or Alpha-Mini S Narrow Edge serger and your serging yarn.

marine carpet binding

Instabind for Marine Carpet Binding

Bond offers a number of options for our Instabind carpet binding product. It’s summertime now, and people are exploring the great outdoors on their boats and in their RVs, so it’s a good time to remind our customers that we have an Instabind product for marine carpet binding. It works great to bind carpets, gives added protection against the damage water can cause, and it’s simple to install.

Marine Carpet Binding

You may be sprucing up or renovating your boat or RV and want to replace the carpets. Or perhaps you have an indoor/outdoor carpet remnant you’d like to use for your deck to make it more comfortable and attractive. Once you’ve decided on which type of carpet you’d like or chosen your remnant, you’ll need to choose an edge treatment or binding. The binding is what will protect the carpet from fraying and coming apart. It will also give your rug a lovely, finished look.

Often people will choose a binding color that matches the carpet, mat, or snap-in flooring as closely as possible. Another decorative choice is to pick a contrasting color that will match an element of your boat, yacht, or RV. This will change the look of the carpet or mat and give it something extra visually, as well as complement its surroundings.

Bond’s outdoor marine style carpet edging is made using solution dyed acrylic material. It is available in four stock colors (black, navy, grey & beige) in 50 ft rolls. This marine carpet binding is UV protected and mildew resistant, which makes it ideal for outdoor carpets or anything that might get damp or exposed to the elements.

You will not need special binding equipment to apply the Instabind. All you need for this project is scissors, hot melt glue gun, carpet tape, and some time. We do recommend using Bond’s Hi-Temp polyamide glue sticks when applying our outdoor marine binding. This glue will bond better and last longer in exterior surroundings.

Keep your outdoor carpets from fraying with our Instabind outdoor marine carpet binding! Call us today to order your Instabind, glue, and anything else you might need for your summer DIY projects. We’re here to help.

The device has 5 unique stations and is designed to install any imported or domestic-made round and angle-head mallet caps. It works on any mallet. Its sturdy construction means that it will likely never require maintenance.

This video demonstrates how easy the ProDriveHD Tipper/De-Tipper Mallet Cap Tool makes both the removal and installation processes. Removing the cap can be accomplished with a normal amount of pressure. Installation of a new cap can be done with even less effort. This tool will save you time, effort, and frustration.

install artificial turf

Bond’s Turf Seaming Method

If you need to install artificial turf whether for your own personal use or as a part of your business’s services, Bond has everything you need to get the job done. Even better, Bond’s turf seaming method makes it possible to complete the process in three easy steps!

Bond’s Turf Seaming Method Eliminates Problems and Mess

One thing no one enjoys about installing artificial turf is messing around with pails of glue, fabric, and trowels. Our method eliminates this trouble. Bond’s Turf Tape is easy to use. Simply roll it out, line it up, use a high-temperature iron to heat it, and lay your seam. It’s not necessary to use messy two-part epoxy glue and wait for it to cure. This makes our system exceptionally versatile. Turf Tape already has the glue incorporated into it, and it’s activated when ironed.

It even works in inclement weather and other bad outdoor conditions. The seal is strong and will last when used with all urethane-backed turfs. It also cures within minutes without any exposure to harmful fumes!

Satisfied Customers Use Our Turf Tape!

Here’s a testimonial from one of our customers, Versatile Grass

“We have been getting to understand and practice with your new hot-melt turf-seaming system on remnants and such, but today was the first real-world landscaping grass install for your just received system. Here is the actual job closing email from my install foreman moments ago:

‘The new seaming technique works like a charm and the seams were quite possibly the best ones and the easiest I’ve done EVER!’

“Certainly music to my ears as the company owner. That is a nice, tight program you’ve got there…suspect we will be a regular client for you now.  ‘Well done’ accolades to your staff and R&D folks…this is indeed everything you touted it to be. It will be difficult to go back to the nasty glue regime now. Please do keep me up-to-date on any new developments specific to the turf industry please.” –Rob M.

Bond Products stocks everything anyone would need to seam and install artificial turf. All you truly need is Bond Turf Tape and a seaming iron, but we have many other useful tools and products as well.

If you want to learn more about Bond’s Turf Seaming Method, we explain it in our tutorial here.

There are so many uses for artificial turf. Shop here for all of our turf seaming tools, or call us at 1-888-800-BOND for help. We’ll be happy to get you the products you need to make turf seaming and installation a snap.

What is twill tape? You may be familiar with the look of twill fabric but not aware of the many great uses of twill tape. In this blog we will talk about where the name twill comes from and how it has been used over the years and is used now.

What Is Twill?

Twill is a fabric composed of yarns that are woven very closely together with diagonal parallel ridges on the surface. This is a tough, sturdy fabric that dates back to ancient times. Twill tapes have similar diagonal lines and the thickness required of a tape used to hold things together. They can withstand repeated washing and regular use and will retain their shape. The interlocking twill weave pattern can fold to cover corners or shape around curves which makes it a versatile tape. If you apply it properly to your rug, it will lie flat without rippled edges and last a long time.

Uses for Twill Tape

Twill tape is used to keep the edges of rugs and carpets from unraveling. It makes a great edge binding for hooked rugs and will cover the tougher edges of a latch-hook rug to finish it beautifully. Traditionally, twill tapes have covered braided oval or circular floor rugs. Twill tapes can also be used on carpet remnants to make a throw rug or a play rug for an area with high traffic. All you have to do is fold it around the edges of the fabric and sew it in place by hand. You can also use twill tapes for hemming in a similar way to rug binding.

To stabilize seams, sew a strip of twill tape on the wrong side of the back fabric piece and then sew that to the front fabric piece. This works great for shoulder seams, especially when you’re working with stretchy fabrics like knits.

To form a casing for a drawstring or elastic, simply sew a long edge of twill tape to your fabric, leaving a hole. You can then insert your elastic or drawstring through that hole and tie or tack the ends. Twill tapes are frequently used for hospital gowns or other pieces of clothing that are fastened together with sturdy ties.

Twill tape can be used as snap tape, a by-the-yard strip of set-in snaps. If you don’t happen to have a snap setter, it can be really handy for putting in a row of snaps. The twill tape is sturdy enough to withstand the constant pull of opening and closing the snaps.

You can use twill tape for decoration or to add product labels to items you make and sell. The tape functions naturally as an attractive label material.

air hoses and parts

Need Air Hoses and Parts? Bond Has Them!

Bond Products is pleased to offer more products in our ProDriveHD™ line to our customers who need flooring and roofing tools and supplies. We recently added air hoses and parts to our inventory. If you need air hoses for your pneumatic tools, we want to be your source.

What Do Air Hoses Do?

Air hoses are used to deliver the compressed air that pneumatic tools need to operate. Unlike other power tools that use either batteries or direct current to operate, air tools use compressed air. Workers in many different industries, including medicine, industrial, agriculture and construction, use air hoses for tools like sprayers, nailers, and torque wrenches. Bond Products’ pneumatic stapler is commonly used for both flooring and roofing applications.

Because the air in these systems is under high pressure, the air hoses they use must be strong and durable so they will not leak or get damaged. The parts or fittings for air hoses must be able to withstand the pressure the tool generates. The parts we offer for sale are made of brass and tough and long lasting. It’s important to keep the hose away from contact with sharp objects or corners, but if your air hoses have an issue at some future date, they are easily repaired in the field.

Air Hose Parts

Bond Products offers air hoses in 50-foot and 100-foot options. We also sell these parts for them:

1/4″ NPT female-Brass, Nipple for Air Hose

1/4″ NPT female-Brass, Industrial Six Ball Coupler, for Air Hose

1/4″ ID 3/3″ OD Air Hose Splicer

Our high quality air hoses and parts are available for sale, and there is never a better time than now to stock up on the parts you need and any replacement parts you may need in the future. Call us at 1-888-800-BOND to order anything you need for flooring, carpet installation, carpet binding, roofing, or any other DIY projects you may have.

Working with Your Carpet Serger: Removing Yarn

Have ever wondered how to remove yarn from a serged piece of carpet? If you have, we have just created the video tutorial for you. Learning to use your carpet serger confidently and efficiently is important, so we at Bond Products want to share our tricks with you whenever we can.

Working with Your Carpet Serger

Carpet serging adds value and visual impact to a carpet, but sometimes mistakes happen and you have to fix the damage. Then you need to know how to remove the serging without a knife. You do not want to cut the carpet or slice your hand accidentally, and there is a better way to remove serging yarn. In this short video Brian demonstrates how he removes yarn that was serged with Bond’s Alpha Mini-2000 portable serger

This serger is a two-thread machine. Sergers use two types of materials to serge a carpet, both yarn and thread. The thread goes through the needle of the serger, while the yarn goes through the looper. The yarn is much thicker than the thread and, as it’s wrapped over and over around the edge of the carpet, much more of it is used. The thread is used to wrap the yarn to the carpet itself and is made of strong nylon.

Removing the Serging Yarn

If you don’t know there’s a trick to removing the yarn, you might be tempted to cut it off with a knife or a scissors, but there’s an easier way. If you pull the yarn and the sewing threads at the same time, the serging will unravel. There will be far more serging yarn to remove per inch than sewing thread, so you need to keep that in mind. Just keep pulling carefully, and it will come off. When you get the hang of it, it comes apart fairly easily. This is very similar to opening up a pet food bag that has been stitched shut.

Once you have removed the yarn from the carpet, you can dispose of it and re-serge or do whatever you would like with the piece.

If you have any questions about serging or the sergers we offer for sale, or if you’re looking for serging thread, yarn, binding tape or any products you might need, call us at 1-888-800-BOND. We will be more than happy to help you find anything you need for your project.
