Binding corners is a more challenging part of the process of binding carpets and rugs. It can be tricky to bind something with a 90-degree corner and make it look completely professional. Fortunately, we at Bond Products have several tips for making it easier to create great looking finished carpets no matter how many corners they have.
Binding Corners Using a Carpet Binder
In this video Brian demonstrates how to bind a piece of carpet that has an inside corner using a Bond Model TMB1 Double Puller carpet binder. Many stair runners have inside corners that have to be bound and so do carpets that are cut and installed around fireplace corners and other decorative room elements.
The way you accomplish this is to bend and crease the carpet corner into a straight line so that you can sew the binding on right through and make a perfect looking corner. You can do this with a table model carpet binder or a portable binder.
Blind Stitching a Carpet with a Mitred Corner

Here the carpet binding is sewn to the rug using a PBL-TX tapestry binder, and then it’s wrapped around the edge using Bond PSA Double-sided EasyTape and a hot glue gun for a beautiful look. You can use either glue or our SSTGU81 Pro-Drive Heavy Duty Hand-binding stapler to tuck the binding tabs under the carpet at the corners.
