Is it Time for Turf in Your Backyard?

With all of the recent advances in artificial turf, it’s not surprising that more and more homeowners are opting for the latest synthetics instead of traditional sod and seed methods.  Let’s look a few of the many benefits provided by today’s artificial lawns:

First, synthetic lawns offer a significant savings in both time and money when it comes to upkeep.  They require no fertilizing, no treatments, no mowing and no trimming, allowing homeowners to spend their precious summer hours with their families rather than their yard tools.  In fact, the only real maintenance that a synthetic lawn requires is an occasional wash down when it gets dusty and there hasn’t been a lot of rain.

Second, synthetic lawns are much more environmentally friendly.  They are made with ecologically friendly processes and materials that blend and work naturally into their environment, and don’t require the dangerous chemicals or pollution-spewing mowers and trimmers for care.  They also require little to no water, which can be difficult to come by in dry seasons or areas of drought.

Finally, synthetic lawns are becoming a much more affordable homeowner investment.  Though they can cost up to 3 times as much as natural turf, the lifetime savings in supplies and maintenance eventually add up to a noticeable savings.  When one includes the value of the hours spent, the break even point isn’t that far off.

Previous issues such as drainage problems and “fake” look and feel are being solved by innovative companies that are producing porous artificial surfaces with varying tones and heights of individual blades.  Companies are even able to create region-specific varieties that challenge homeowners to distinguish the live from the synthetic.

If you’re tired of the weekly maintenance of a traditional lawn, perhaps it’s time you considered a synthetic surface.  They are a great investment that is highly durable and low maintenance.  Just imagine what you could do with all of those extra summertime hours!

How to Add Profits to Your Bottom Line!

tapestry binder Model-PBLTXWelcome to the first edition of Brian’s Blog!

My name is Brian Milnes and I am the owner and president of Bond Products, Inc. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  We are a family owned and operated carpet finishing equipment and supplies company in business since 1947. The purpose of starting this editorial is to inform our valued clients about tips and techniques pertaining to carpet binding, edge finishing and custom rug making in general.  I hope you will find the following article and those in the weeks to follow both educational and informative as we strive to improve your services and ultimately your bottom line.

How to Add Profits to Your Bottom Line!

Over the years, there is one common profit opportunity that carpet retailers and installers alike have used to add daily, weekly, and monthly profits to their bottom line. It’s a small investment requiring minimal training and skills — an investment that maintains its value upon resale and never fails to pay for itself over and over again. What is it, you may ask? Offering a carpet binding service!

There is no reason why you shouldn’t offer a binding service to your clients. With our DIY on-site Instabind carpet edge finishing tapes that have no initial equipment investment, to portable and table model industrial binders and sergers, binding services is something practically all of your clients need or will need.

Here are the indisputable reasons why offering a binding service is such an excellent idea:

  • Bind up and help sell carpet remnants.
  • Add sales dollars to the end of every installation job by binding up scraps for runners and mats.
  • Offer immediate services to your clients so they don’t walk away from a sale.
  • Finish & complete jobs the same day & on-site without running back and forth, wasting time & money!
  • Offer commercial carpet cove base to hotels and office building alike.

I think we can all agree that we live in a service-oriented business environment, so offering a carpet binding service can add hundreds of dollars that will ultimately help make your annual sales increase substantially! Just as an example, if you are able to make $100.00 a day from binding carpet that amounts to over $36,500.00 per year!

What we offer at Bond products is much more affordable than the competition. Most binding rooms charge anywhere from $1.00 to $5.00 per foot and up. Our average costs are only pennies per foot.

Carpet Equipment Durability

We still service old carpet binders from the 1960’s that are in excellent operating condition and that have a trade-in value close to what they were purchased for over forty  years ago. There are no other tools that last as long as carpet binding equipment and which continue to make you money year after year! It’s not an expense. It’s an investment in your company’s future!
